GAME FLOW
The Lancer jumped out of the gate firing, shooting well and plying good defence to start the game. The blue and gold passed the ball well, assisting on 11 of 13 makes in the first quarter. After one quarter the Lancers enjoyed a 20-14 lead, but the Gryphons weren't going anywhere. Guelph's MacKeely Shantz led the Gryphons as they chipped away at the lead slowly but surely. The payoff for the hosts came at the end as, with time expiring in the half, Shantz went 94 feet with the ball to lay it in, tying the game at half time, 36-36.
The third quarter was a seesaw affair as the Lancers and Gryphons went back and forth. At the midway point of the frame the Gryphons grabbed their first lead of the game and extended it to as far as 53-47. The Lancers however, kept battling and a
Samantha Gucciardi three pulled the Lancers even at 55 later in the quarter. Down the stretch the Lancers managed to stay ahead of the Gryphons heading into the final quarter, 60-57.
The fourth quarter was tightly contested with the Gryphons refusing to go quietly. Despite a low scoring quarter, the Lancers maintained their lead deep into the fourth, 72-68 with just over 1:00 to go. The Gryphons were forced into fouling late, but
