The Windsor Lancers women's volleyball team kicked off their first game in Thunder Bay this weekend with a 3-0 (25-6, 25-23, 25-21) win over the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Saturday afternoon.
 
The win extends the Lancers winning streak to 3 straight wins in the last their last 3 outings and improves their record to 6-6 on the campaign. 
 
GAME STATS
Lexi Pollard led the way offensively for the Lancers with 9 kills. Yaila Sealy contributed significantly to the offense as well with 8 kills. Brooke Davis had 4 service aces from the serving line which helped propel the Lancers to victory in the Saturday afternoon matinee. Defensively libero Amie Slawson had 9 digs leading both sides in the match. 
 
GAME FLOW
In the first set, the blue and gold jumped out to an early lead and maintained full control of the set all the way up to the technical timeout not allowing Lakehead to get on the board, holding a firm 16-0 lead. Following the technical timeout, the Lancers would continue their strong play against the Thunderwolves, despite Lakehead picking up some points but ultimately the Lancers closed out the first set with a commanding 25-6 finish to go up 1-0 in the match. 
 
The second set started in favour of the hosts who held control of most of the set. They would hold the lead up until the technical timeout, however, the blue and gold hung around late in the set to engage in a strong comeback second set victory to claim the second set by a score of 25-23 and go up 2-0 in the match.
 
In the third set, the Lancers would again be challenged by the Thunderwolves as Lakehead seemed to ramp up their play against the visiting Lancers. However, in the end the Lancers would close out the Thunderwolves in three straight sets winning the third set 25-21 and the match 3-0.

The Lancers will do battle again tomorrow against the Thunderwolves as part of the second game of the Northwestern Ontario vs Southwestern Ontario OUA regular season series.
