The Windsor Lancers men's hockey team suffered a 7-1 loss to the Gryphons in Guelph Friday night.
Â
The loss leaves them at 14-11 in conference play.
Â
The Gryphons got things started just 29 seconds into the game when Ted Nichol beat
Jonathan Reinhart to put the home side Gryphons up 1-0 very early. Things didn't get much better for the Lancers as the period went on with Reinhart giving up two more goals before the break. Heading into intermission the Lancers were scratching their heads, down 3-0.
Â
The second period was just as tough for the Lancers as the Gryphons kept the pressure on them, outshooting the Lancers for the second period in a row. On their 15 shots in the frame, the Gryphons scored two more goals, putting the Lancers in a 5-0 hole heading into the final intermission.
Â
The final frame saw a goalie change for the Lancers but not a change of fortune as the Gryphons scored twice on relief goalie
Tyler Johnson to make it 7-0. The Lancers showed some pride late in the third though when
Sean Olson scored on a powerplay to break Brendan Cregan's shutout bid, getting the Lancers on the board for a 7-1 final.
