Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Windsor loses final road game of the season

The Windsor Lancers women's hockey team fell short of success on Saturday night against the Queen's Gaels. The Lancers dropped a 2-0 decision to the Gaels in Kingston on the second game of their final back-to-back road trip of the season.

GAME STATS
No Lancer players scored in this contest however Lancers netminder Molly Jenkins made 37 saves on 39 shots faced for the blue and gold having herself a good performance despite the loss.

Queen's received goals from Kaylie Dennis and Alex Maw while their goaltender Arsenault turned away all 26 Lancer shots faced to earn a shutout against Windsor.

GAME FLOW
In the first period, the Gaels struck first scoring late in the period with a goal at the 16:09 mark when the Queen's captain Dennis scored her sixth goal of the season and gave the Gaels a 1-0 lead on the blue and gold. Queen's outshot Windsor 18-5 in the period.

In the second period, neither team could solve the other's goaltender as it was indeed a scoreless 20 minutes of play. Queen's outshot Windsor 10-9 for a game total in favour of Queens with 28-14 after two periods of play.

In the third period, the Gaels continued to apply pressure offensively on the Lancers and the blue and gold had trouble responding to it. At the 15:03 mark of the period Maw found the back of the net with her fifth goal of the season to give Queen's a 2-0 lead with an insurance goal late in the game. Windsor failed to respond which ultimately led to the eventual 2-0 final result with Queen's outshooting the Lancers 39-26 in the match.

These two teams will face off again next weekend in Windsor when the Lancers host them on Saturday February 15th at 4:00pm from the Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex.
