ESports Session 2

Lancer Recreation

Registration Open for Session 2 of ESports Leagues

Although unable to offer intramural leagues in person this summer, Lancer Rec is continuing to offer free esports leagues to students. With the first session of these leagues finishing mid-June, session 2 will begin June 14.

Session 1 had over 100 students participating in 7 different leagues. Third year Law and Politics student Francesco Barile participated in the FIFA league and said, "During this pandemic, esports are the perfect way to stay connected with the university community from the safety of one's own home."

He later added, "I always look forward to playing every Monday, and the league gives me happiness during an uncertain and stressful time."

The session 2 registration period is officially open. To register, students need to download the Mission Control app and join "University of Windsor Intramurals" using their University of Windsor email.

This session will run until the end of July. The leagues being offered in the second session include:

Rocket League 1v1 (on Xbox1, PS4, Nintendo Switch and computer)à Sunday nights at 7pm

Rocket League 2v2 (on Xbox1, PS4, Nintendo Switch and computer)à Sunday nights at 8pm

FIFA 20 (on Xbox1 and PS4)à Monday nights at 8pm
*FIFA 20 for PS$ split into A and B divisions*

Although days and times are set to organize each league, participants have the ability to reschedule games with opponents if there is a conflict. An esports manager will be present to help with any questions or issues.

Participants will also have the ability to enter stats and scores into the Mission Control app immediately after the game. Winners of leagues will receive a plaque, t-shirt, and an invite to our end of year Intramural Champions Banquet celebration.

Another third year Business student, Christian Gualteri, who participated in the session one NHL league, stated "the biggest benefit of participating in the esports league is the opportunity to connect and interact with other students on campus."

Don't miss this great opportunity for social connection during a time of physical distancing.

Registration for all leagues will close on Friday June 12 at 5pm. Leagues will officially begin the week of Sunday June 14.

Questions can be emailed to barileg@uwindsor.ca at any time. We are looking forward to a great session!
