In the home-and-home series against the Laurier Golden Hawks, the Lancer men's soccer team tied the Golden Hawks 0-0 on Friday at Alumni Field.
With the tie against Laurier, Windsor is now 1-4-2 in the OUA west division.
The Blue and Gold showed off some aggressive flare on the defensive side to keep the Golden Hawks on their toes. Yet, Laurier did not shy away from pushing back and showed off some quick passes to match one other's play. In the 34th minute, there was a good chance for the Lancers by Paul Di Meo but it was shy of the net going into the high right corner. At half-time, both teams were scoreless but eager at a chance to take the lead.
Heading into the second half, both teams were looking for openings to make the right play and score a goal. Windsor had a missed opportunity with a close goal in the 56th minute but the referee did not make the call. The Lancer goalkeeper, Kaneen Fells made numerous good saves and Laurier tried to take advantage with their best offensive chance by Ikenna Negliaba that shot high from a free kick. The final minutes struck up several close calls by both squats yet the teams ended regulation scoreless.
Windsor will now head to Waterloo to play against the Laurier Golden Hawks on Sunday October 24th at 4:15pm at University Stadium.
