Kennedy passes father on all-time scoring list; Lancers fall to Hawks

The Lancer men's basketball team fell to the Laurier Golden Hawks 110-73 in their final home game of 2021 on Wednesday night at the Dennis Fairall Fieldhouse.
 
STATS
Early in the second quarter, Kennedy hit is third field goal of the game which moved him one point ahead of his father, James 'JK' Kennedy on the Lancers all-time scoring list. Kennedy finished the game with 19 points and 8 rebounds, and currently sits 18th overall in Lancer history with 810 points to date.
 
Telloy Simon led the blue and gold with 20 points and 9 rebounds.
 
Laurier's Ali Sow had a game high 31 points and 8 rebounds, while Ethan Passley contributed 18 points in the victory. 
 
GAME FLOW
The Hawks shot an impressive 51.4% from the field in the first half, despite committing nine turnovers. Sow led all scorers with 13 points on 3-for-5 shooting from the three. Windsor got off to a slower start but came back to tie the game at 17 late in the first quarter.
 
In the second, Windsor continued to apply pressure to the visiting Hawks but they continued to struggle to find the net throughout the quarter. A goaltending call against the Hawks with 40 seconds remaining in the half put the Lancers within three, 42-39, but another Laurier bucket put the visitors up 45-39 at the half.
 
The Hawks broke away in the third quarter scoring 31 points in the frame. The blue and gold struggled to find their rhythm, shooting just 33%. Leading 76-57 heading into the fourth, the visitors continued to control the floor going on a 12-5 run over the first three minutes of the quarter to build a 26-point lead. Laurier was constant from behind the three-point line for the rest of the game to seal the victory.
 
UP NEXT
Windsor will close out the first half of the 2021-22 season this Saturday evening when they once again tip-off against the Golden Hawks in Waterloo. Game time is set for 6:00pm and the game can be seen live at oua.tv.
