Playing in their final home game of 2021, the Lancer women's basketball team played a high pressure game and came away with a 74-59 win over the visiting Laurier Golden Hawks Wednesday night at the Dennis Fairall Fieldhouse.

With the win, the Blue and Gold are now 2-4 in the OUA season, while the Golden Hawks move to 1-4 on the year.

Noor Bazzi and
Harriet Carey led the team with 13 total points each, while Carey put up a double-double with 10 rebounds. Bazzi was also solid defensively with 8 rebounds.

For the visitors, Cassidy Hirtle led the team contributing 17 points and Maddy White shot for 15 total points.Â

GAME FLOW
Right from the start, the blue and gold came prepared to dominate on the court.
Maggie Denys opened up the first lead for Windsor pushing through Laurier traffic for a shot. Both teams showed off their aggressive defensive side with multiple steals and turnovers.

Bazzi also found openings to finish scoring plays and extend the gap for Windsor. The Lancers started to find their rhythm and shot 45 per cent the field, leading the way with a 37-27 over the Golden Hawks at halftime.Â

The second half of the game continued to put the Golden Hawks to work as the Lancers took control of the game. Carey showed off her offensive skills hitting three 3-pointers in the game and the Hawks were unable to respond. The fourth quarter had Laurier starting to pick up the pace and try to close the gap but the squad was not ready to back down and find opportunities. In an exhilarating game, the Lancers came out on top for another win with a final score of 74-59.
