Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Kennedy dominates, Windsor Basketball edges Gryphons in season debut

The Windsor Lancer men's basketball team opened up the OUA regular season with a huge 82-80 victory over the Guelph Gryphons in front of a boisterous crowd on Wednesday night at the Dennis Fairall Fieldhouse.

STATS
Thomas Kennedy led the way for the Lancers with 26 points and 21 rebounds. Shakael Pryce also stood out for the blue and gold, giving the Lancers their first lead in the game and finishing the night with 17 points.

GAME FLOW
The blue and gold brought the heat as they put the pressure on the Gryphons and bringing the crowd to their feet with every shot. Both teams responded well travelling up and down the court with the Lancers having a bit more edge to take the lead going into the half, 37-33.

Windsor opened the second half hoping to continue the same high energy into the game, putting their defense to the test and prevent the Gryphons from scoring as much as possible. A shot that found its way through the traffic by Jake Polski with six minutes remaining in the third quarter left the Gryphon's offensive side unresponsive.

The lively crowd helped the squad keep the momentum going as the Gryphons managed to close the gap and continue to push back with minutes remaining. Despite a few close shots from the Gryphons, the Lancers held their own and took the win 82-80.
