Windsor, ON - The University of Windsor's Alumni Association and the Department of Athletics are pleased to announce the 2021 class being inducted into the Alumni Sports Hall of Fame. In lieu of an in-person ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a video commemoration will be released virtually on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 7:00pm.

Star athletes from basketball and track & field highlight the inductees. Track & field stars Kyle Robinson and Tanya Sawyers, cross country/track & field all-Canadian Richard Tremain and women's basketball star Iva Peklova will be honoured as a part of this year's ceremony.

Kyle Robinson (BSc '98) was a three time first team all-Canadian and two-time OUA all-star for the Lancer track & field team. He captured a national gold medal in the men's 60m hurdles twice throughout his career, and also helped the 4x200m relay team bring home gold in his junior year with the blue and gold. Kyle continues to hold the Lancer team record in the men's 60m hurdles with a time of 8.02 seconds. He represented Canada at the Francophone Games in Madagascar and made three appearances at the Canadian senior track & field championships.

Tanya Sawyers (BA '02) was an all-Canadian and two-time OUA all-star as a thrower with the Lancer track & field team. Capturing a pair of provincial gold medals and a national gold medal in the shot put, she helped lead the blue & gold to three OUA championships and a CIS women's track & field championships throughout her career. Tanya received the Banner Shield as the Lancers female athlete of the year in her final season with the blue and gold, and is currently third on the Lancer all-time list in the shot put with a throw of 14.59m.

Richard Tremain (BComm '98) is one of the most talented athletes in Lancer track and field/cross country history. The recipient of the Olympic Shield, Rich was named the OUA athlete of the meet for two straight years and was a 12-time OUA all-star in track & field, capturing ten provincial gold medals and two silver. At the national level, Rich was a nine-time all-Canadian in track & field, bringing home gold twice and seven silver. On the cross country course, Rich was a two-time OUA all-star and all-Canadian, and placed in the provincial top three twice. He has represented Canada at the international level on multiple occasions.

Iva Peklova (BSc '10, MSc '11) played a major role in the Lancer women's basketball team's rise to success. On five of the Lancers top ten all-time lists, Iva helped lead the team to three OUA gold medals and the program's first two national championships. Named the Lacers rookie of the year in 2008, Iva was the OUA's west division rookie of the year and named to the provincial and national all-rookie team. She went on to be named to the CIS Championship all-star team in 2009, and a five-time academic all-Canadian. She represented her home country of the Czech Republic at the Summer Universiade in Belgrade, Serbia, and went on to a respectable professional career in Europe following graduation.

The University of Windsor will also recognize Jeff May, BA '01 with the Alumni Sport Achievement award. This award recognizes alumni for outstanding contributions to sport beyond the University of Windsor.
