The Lancer women's soccer team dropped their second game of the season 4-1 to the Guelph Gryphons on Sunday afternoon in Guelph.

Windsor faced the Gryphons in their season opener this past Wednesday where they came away with a 0-0 draw. The blue and gold are now 0-1-1 on the season.

Lauren Gellner made 11 saves in net for the Lancers, while rookie Kailyn Robinson scored Windsor's lone goal.

Guelph's Olivia Rizakos dominated the pitch scoring three of the hosts four goals, with keeper Brooke Davidson earned the win in net.

GAME FLOW
Within the first three minutes of the game, the Gryphons managed to get their first shot into the net with Rizakos' first goal of the game. The hosts are able to again get past Gellner with a goal from Kate Knafelc in the 42nd minute to give the Gryphons a 2-0 lead. Shortly after, in the 44th minute, the Lancers came on strong to respond and
Kailyn Robertson took a shot that landed at the side of the net and give the blue and gold an opportunity heading into the second half. The Gryphons held a 2-1 advantage over the Lancers at halftime.

Windsor really felt the pressure in the 76th minute and tried to dig deep as the Gryphons continued to attack. Guelph worked hard to get past Gellner bringing the game to 3-1 with another successful goal by Rizakos. Rizakos was on a streak this match and was able to score her third goal of the match with 2 extra minutes to earn the hat-trick. Windsor was not able to create another chance and dropped the game 4-1.

The Lancers head back on the road to take on the Brock Badgers at Brock Alumni Field on Friday, October 1st at 4:00pm. Windsor returns home on Sunday, October 3rd to host the Badgers at 2:00pm at Alumni Stadium.
