In front of a packed house, the Windsor Lancer football team hosted the Laurier Golden Hawks as part of the Alumni Week festivities.

Looking to bounce back into the win column, the Lancers fell 49-11 to the Hawks for their second straight loss. This is the first time this year that the Lancers have dropped two in a row and are now 2-3 on the season.

First year running back
Joey Zorn led the Lancer offence with 126 yards and a 66-yard touchdown. On the defensive side,
Istvan Assibo-Dadzie made 8 total tackles to prevent the Golden Hawks moving up the pitch.

Laurier ended the game with three touchdowns and 124 yards rushing. Quarterback Taylor Elgersma made 12 passes for 155 yards, and defense linebacker, Shomari Hutchinson had 4.5 total tackles.

GAME FLOW
On the Lancer first drive of the game,
Brady Lidster was able to clear a field goal attempt from the 35-yard line and put the blue and gold first up on the board with a 3-0 lead. As Windsor struggled to complete passes, Laurier took advantage and went on the counterattack with a 4-yard touchdown pass to Tanner Nelmes. The blue and gold looked to take on a better start into the second quarter, trailing 7-3.

The Golden Hawks controlled the second quarter putting up three touchdowns and three field goals, while the Lancers also conceded a safety. Laurier went into half time up 35-3.

In the second half of the game,
Joey Zorn rushed 66 yards for the Lancers first touchdown and
Brady Lidster's field goal kick was good to help close the gap to 36-11. However, the visitors added a field goal and a three-yard touchdown by Elgersma to take the game 49-11.
