In their home opener against the Western Mustangs, the Windsor Lancers brought the heat with a full house at the new Toldo Lancer Centre. In a tight matchup, the Lancers earned a 92-84 win over the Mustangs on Tuesday night.

The Lancers were led by
Thomas Kennedy with 26 points and 16 rebounds, while Xavier Ochu had 23 points.

Aryan Sharma led the Mustangs with 25 points, and Tyson Dunn contributed 21 points.

GAME FLOW
The blue and gold came out with aggression as they looked to dominate on the court. Xavier Ochu would help get the Lancers up on the board first while Najee Brown-Henderson would draw contact for a couple free throws. The blue and gold forced quick turnovers and created openings. Windsor led 24-23, and out rebounded the visitors 14-7 after the first ten minutes of play.

In the second quarter, Western continued to put pressure on Windsor as they started to find their rhythm. After two quick buckets by the Mustangs, the Lancers called a timeout to tighten up their strategy and open up their plays on the court. Later, Ochu would lineup and make another easy 3-pointer to help close the gap 40-39 behind the Mustangs with 3 minutes left. Windsor went into the half down 53-45.

In the third quarter
Thomas Kennedy fought through the traffic for shots inside the box to help close the gap. The Mustangs extended their lead to 59-49 with six minutes remaining in the frame. The Lancers worked hard to take back control of the game and were only down by one, 65-64, heading into the last quarter.

Windsor continued to control the game throughout the fourth and regained the lead with three minutes remaining in regulation. Najee Brown-Henderson took control of the court and drew a foul with mere seconds remaining in the game to solidify the Lancers 92-84 win.
