GAME FLOW
In the first quarter, Windsor found themselves trailing the Voyageurs early. With 2:20 remaining, Windsor called a timeout hoping to ignite another gear. A quick Laurentian turnover and layup by Reine Ndome would get the blue and gold into the double digits, but it would be the Voyageurs who had the extra edge in the opening frame and led 25-16.Â
Â
The next quarter had the Voyageurs continue to pull away as the Lancers attempted a comeback. On the floor,
Harriet Carey did her best to try to propel the blue and gold forward with a clean 3-pointer. Seconds left before the buzzer, Haley Willits made an appearance to hit a three outside the paint and cut Laurentian's lead. Although Windsor attempted the flip the script throughout the second quarter, the Voyageurs did a good job on the offensive end with their ability to capitalize on their plays. The Lancers were trailing 45-27 heading into the half.
Â
Doing their best to create bigger offensive chances, the blue and gold used the halftime intermission to regroup and organize new strategies. Forward
Maggie Denys went for a long range 2-pointer to rack up 7-points so far in the game and later Chiarot hit a three to show the Voyageurs they were still in the game. The Voyageurs led 59-35 heading into the final quarter.
Â
Trying to finish strong in the last quarter, the Lancers were put to the test as the Voyageurs continued to add pressure and eventually won the game 72-53.
