The Lancer women's basketball team moved to 2-1 on the season following two dominating victories over the host Algoma Thunderbirds over the weekend in Sault Ste. Marie, ON.

Winsor dominated the TBirds 77-31 in their first game on Friday night, before following that up with a 72-47 win on Saturday afternoon.

FRIDAY
The blue and gold held the host Thunderbirds to just eight points in the second half to earn the convincing win.

The blue and gold shot an impressive 53% from the field in the game, compared to Algoma's 29.2%. Windsor also out-rebounded the Thunderbirds 37-23.

Rookie Kali Grootenboer led all scorers with 24 points and eight rebounds, while Vanessa Budimunda had 14 points and Reine Ndome contributed 12 points.

SATURDAY
The game started out much closer than the previous night with the Lancers hold a 9-8 lead after the first quarter, and a 30-24 lead at the half.

Windsor opened up the game in the second half, outscoring the hosts 42-26 in the final twenty minutes to earn the 25-point victory.

Budimunda had another solid game, registering her first double-double of the season with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Other Lancers hitting double digits included Ndome with 15 points,
Harriet Carey with 13 points, and Grootenboer with 10.
