In their first game of the home-and-home series, the Lancer men's basketball team made a good comeback to defeat the Algoma Thunderbirds 102-67 on Friday night.
Â
STATS
The blue and gold were led by
Telloy Simon and
Thomas Kennedy both contributing 19 points and Kennedy with 14 rebounds.
Â
The visiting Thunderbirds, Roman Niro led the way with 29 total points and also in the double digits was Maxime Bellony with 22 total points and 14 rebounds in the game.

GAME FLOW
The first quarter had the Lancers full of energy and ready to respond, dominating early in the game.
Ziphion Grant made a 2-point shot to get Windsor first up on the board and the home crowd was excited. Algoma struggled with their shots and had technical foul troubles that made it frustrating for the team to make efforts to keep up with Windsor. The Lancers were up 27-9 after ten minutes of play.
Â
In the second quarter, Windsor continued to find openings through the Algoma zone and run with their offensive streak.
Thomas Kennedy made a move going coast-to-coast and dunking it in to widen the Lancers lead. Windsor made it clear they were not easily swayed to give up any points and emphasized their strong defense. At halftime the Lancers lead 52-27 over the Thunderbirds.Â
Â
To continue the second half of the game, the blue and gold squad pressed hard to force quick turnovers and hopes to come out on top. Neither team would allow any dead rebounds to play out as every second on the shot clock was a chance to score. After a triple by
Shakael Pryce, the Thunderbirds were forced into a timeout to attempt to shift their momentum. The Lancers headed into the 4th quarter with confidence they could hold onto the lead, 79-50.
Â
In the final quarter, despite Algoma's strong defensive effort, Windsor could not be shut down when they found any opportunity to run with the ball. A blind pass from Pryce to
Jake Polski to a layup would show off the Lancers technical skills and make it look easy.
Akot Aken also threw a smooth 3-pointer that had the bench up on their feet as this would break the 100-point mark and be the first time all-season the Lancers would do so. With the blue and gold on fire, Windsor took a 102-67 victory over Algoma.
