Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Women's Hockey comeback falls short against Mustangs

The Lancer women's hockey team fell 5-3 to the Western Mustangs on Thursday night in London.

STATS
Assistant captain Amy Maitre played in her 100th game for the blue and gold on Thursday night in London.

GAME FLOW
The Mustangs jumped out to an early lead, pressuring the Windsor defence off of the rush. Once in the zone they set up Gabby Lehoux from the point for her first OUA career goal. From there the hosts would add two more goals to take a 3-0 lead heading into the first intermission.

Windsor came out flying in the middle frame, scoring three goals of their own to erase the Mustangs lead. Jessica Gribbon got the Lancers on the board first at 5:22, and was followed shortly thereafter by Abbey Campbell at 7:13. The blue and gold tied it up with a power play marker from Maggie Peterson at 12:20.

Western regained the lead midway through the final period with a wrist shot from Kennedy Ward. Windsor pressed hard throughout the period but the Mustang defense made some big plays throughout the period to prevent the tie. The Mustangs added an insurance marker with just seven seconds remaining to take the win.

UP NEXT
