The Lancer men's soccer team opened up the 2022 regular season with a 6-0 loss to the York Lions on Friday night at Alumni Stadium.

Having limited practice time this week due to illness, the Lancers move to 0-1-0 heading into game two of their home-and-away series against the Lions.

GAME FLOW
York's Soji Olatoye opened the scoring with an unassisted goal at 11:43 of the first half. Pedro Aparicio added another just six minutes later at 17:48 to give the Lions a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.

In the second, Olatoye scored his second of the game, and the visitors added additional markers from Justin Cicchillo and Isaac Bradbury (2), to seal the victory.

Brandon Gaudreau made six saves in the game, while York's Alessio Carbone earned the shut out in net for the Lions.

The blue and gold will head up to Toronto on Sunday for a rematch against the Lions. The game is slated for 4:15pm and can be seen live at oua.tv.
