The No.7 nationally ranked Windsor Lancers football team lost their second game of the season on Saturday afternoon after being defeated 40-7 at the hands of the No. 4 nationally ranked Laurier Golden Hawks in Waterloo.

The Lancers now fall to 5-2 on the campaign while Laurier improves to 7-0 on the year.

STATS
Javonni Cunningham had the lone Lancer touchdown in the contest off a 22-yard pass from
Danny Skelton. While
Brady Lidster had a successful kick through the uprights to follow up the one Lancer touchdown from Cunningham on the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lancers were unable to catch the Golden Hawks who soared out to a large lead consisting of field goal plays and successful team safeties early which allowed them to defend their gridiron.

With Laurier capitalizing on the opportunities that came early they were able to create an early lead margin which widen the gap on the scoreboard throughout and were notably up 26-0 at halftime which did not allow Windsor much room for error with hopes of battling back in this marquee matchup.

Laurier's Jaxon Stebbings would strike twice in the endzone earning two touchdowns for the Golden Hawks getting behind the Lancers defense on separate occasions in each half.  Stebbings first touchdown came with 31 seconds remaining in the second quarter to put the purple and gold up 26-0 on the blue and gold.

The Lancers would not respond until well into the second half at 13:02 in the fourth quarter when Cunningham completed a 22-yard pass from Skelton to crack the Lancers goose egg on the scoreboard and spoil a potential Laurier shutout party to make the game 26-7 following Lidster's good kick.

Laurier would have another touchdown in between Stebbings first and second touchdowns and roughly three minutes after Windsor begun believing again to restore their hefty 26 points lead up 33-7.

Stebbings second touchdown then came and all but polished off the eventual victory that the Golden Hawks would go on to win 40-7 to preserve their perfect record and extend the Lancer losing streak to two games.
