Women's Basketball splits weekend road trip

The Lancer women's basketball team split their weekend road trip against the McMaster Marauders (59-70) and York Lions (55-44).
 
FRIDAY STATS
Lancers shot 33.8% from the floor and 76.9% from the charity line. The blue and gold out-rebounded the McMaster Marauders 44-33 on the night. In total, 11 players logged time on the floor for Windsor, with Kali Grootenboer leading the way with an impressive 22 points.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED FRIDAY
It was an even start to Friday's contest with both teams earning 16 points by the end of the first quarter. The second quarter saw the Lancers put themselves in front, out shooting the Marauders on the floor 43.8% to 19.0%. Despite Windsor's lead going into halftime, McMaster changed the weighing of the seesaw by making up ground in the third. Ultimately, the Marauders kept up their momentum in the final frame, leaving the Lancers trailing by 11.
 
SATURDAY STATS
In the first half, the blue and gold were solid at the charity line, shooting 70.6% compared to the Lion's 42.9%. Overall, by the end of the game the Lancers shot 64.5% on free throws. The blue and gold out-rebounded the York Lions 33-29 on the night. Maggie Denys and Kali Grootenboer led the way for the Lancers, hitting double-digit figures with 13 and 11 points each.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED SATURDAY
The blue and gold opened yet another game with a close contest against the York Lions. The first frame saw the Lancers go point-for-point with the Lions, resulting in a 15-14 quarter score. Then, in the second quarter the Lions managed to edge out the Lancers, leaving a 30-32 score on the board going into halftime. The Lancers ran away with the lead in the third, outscoring the Lions 11-1. Then, in the fourth, the blue and gold gave another solid effort to solidify their 55-44 victory.
