The Lancer women's basketball team earned a 79-61 win over the visiting Laurier Golden Hawks in their home opener on Saturday afternoon at the Toldo Lancer Centre.
 
The win moves the blue and gold to 2-0 after the first week of OUA regular season competition.
 
STATS
Kali Grootenboer led the hosts with 19 points and 8 rebounds in 28 minutes of play. 
Maggie Denys came off the bench to chip in 13 points, and 
Reine Ndome also hit double figures with 12.
 
The Golden Hawks were led by Cassidy Hirtle and Miranda Campbell with 14 and 10 points, respectively.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
The two teams both came into the game with a purpose and traded points back and forth for the first ten minutes.
 
The second quarter saw much of the same, and Windsor held a narrow two-point, 40-38, lead at halftime.
 
The Lancers pulled away in the third quarter before dominating the fourth and outscoring the Hawks 21-10 in the frame to earn the 18-point win.

Windsor will host the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Friday, November 10th at 6:00pm at the Toldo Lancer Centre.
