Men's Basketball drops two at home

The Lancer men's basketball team returned to Windsor for a pair of matchups against teams from the 6ix: No. 10 TMU Bold (92-51) and Toronto Varsity Blues (83-75).
 
FRIDAY STAS
The Lancers outdid the Bold 58.1% over 46.2% from the charity line. Yohann Sam hit double figures for the blue and gold, earning 14 points on the night.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED FRIDAY
TMU Bold proved to be a formidable opponent, starting the game with a 29-point run in the first quarter. While the Lancers outscored TMU in the 2nd quarter 19-14, the men were unable to close the gap against OUA's other blue and gold crew.
 
SATURDAY STATS
In all, the men shot 37.1% from the arc and 58.3% from the free throw line.
 
Leader Xavier Ochu led the blue and gold with 19 points. Daniel Cummings, Denzel Cummins, and Yohann Sam were also in double figures, adding 14, 14, and 13 points respectively. Lorenzo Barbieri was also a key contributor to the Lancer effort, earning 5 assists on the night.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED SATURDAY
The men kicked things off with a point-for-point battle in the first quarter. The second quarter saw the Lancers and Varsity Blues continue to exchange baskets, where Xavier Ochu saw double figures for the blue and gold. In the final few minutes before halftime, Toronto drove ahead to make the score 46-38.
 
Toronto continued to drive through the Windsor paint in the third to maintain their lead. The Lancers dug deep in the final frame to make up ground on the Varsity Blues. While the men came within striking distance, shooting 21 over 15 in the quarter, they would ultimately come up short.

The men are back on the road next weekend to Sudbury and North Bay to battle it out against the Laurentian Voyageurs and Nipissing Lakers. Tune into OUA.tv at 8pm on Friday and Saturday night to catch all the action.
