Men's Basketball splits weekend road trip

The Windsor Lancer men's basketball team earned 3 points on the road this weekend against the Laurentian Voyageurs (55-61) and the Nipissing Lakers (85-75).
 
FRIDAY STATS
Lancers shot 34.4% from the floor and 33.3% from the charity line. Yohann Sam and Luke Grace had standout showings, earning 15 and 11 points respectively. Xavier Ochu led the way in rebounds, earning 8 on the night.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED FRIDAY
Teams kept fans on the edge of their seats for the first half of the game, going point-for-point, where Laurentian led by 1 at halftime. Windsor pulled ahead in the third quarter, outscoring the Voyageurs 17-12, but ultimately Laurentian turned up the heat late in the fourth to end the night with a 6-point win over the blue and gold.
 
SATURDAY STATS
The men shot 77.8% from the free throw line and 48.1% from the floor Saturday night. Denzel Cummins, Daniel Cummings, and Xavier Ochu all hit double figures, with 18, 12, and 12 points respectively. Cummins had a notable 7 assists on the night.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED SATURDAY
The men returned to the stage on Saturday for another outing on the road. The Lancers were back to their offensively minded ways, leading the charge in the opening quarters to make the score 36-23 at halftime. The third quarter was a close contest, 24-25 favoring Nipissing. The Lakers continued to apply pressure against the Lancers in the fourth, challenging them to maintain their early lead. Despite Nipissing's strong final effort, the Lancers buckled down in the final minutes to secure an 85-75 victory.

The men return to Windsor next weekend for back-to-back home games against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks Friday and Queen's Gaels Saturday, each at 8:00pm.
