The Lancer women's hockey team split their weekend road trip to the GTA. The blue and gold fell 3-0 on Saturday to the York Lions before rebounding on Sunday to defeating the TMU Bold 4-1.

The split leaves the women with an 8-10-4-1 record and in fourth place in the OUA west division.

HOW IT HAPPENED FRIDAY
Throughout the opening period, both teams faced offensive challenges, with strong defensive play on display. The blue and gold had eight shots on net in the frame but were unable to get past Lion goaltender Emma Wedgewood. York scored 15 minutes into the period to take a 1-0 lead at the break.

The Lions would score one more goal in each of the remaining period, and Wedgewood would stop all 27 of the Lancers shots to keep Windsor off the scoreboard.

Cadence Petitclerc earned the win in net, making 26 saves for her sixth victory of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED SATURDAY
Elizabeth Coleman opened up the scoring the penalty filled affair on Sunday afternoon. Halfway through the opening frame, she accepted a pass from
Darcee Hall and
Makayla Mailhot to put the Lancers up by one.

The Bold tied up the game on the power play just four minutes later, and the teams went into the intermission tied at one.

The Lancers would have three power play opportunities in the second period but were unable to capitalize on any of their chances. They did, however, manage to get the puck past Lauren Griffin with just 13 seconds left in the period to take a one goal lead heading into the final break.

In the third, it took Windsor's
Jessica Legault just 24 seconds into their first power play of the period to put the Lancers up 3-1 at 4:24 of the period.
Maggie Peterson would also score with the man advantage at 13:14 to secure the victory for Windsor.
