Paige Riley Recruit Announcement

Women's Hockey

Iwanicka adds Paige Riley for 2025-26 season

Lancer women's hockey head coach Deanna Iwanicka is pleased to announce another recruit for the 2025-26 class. Paige Riley, a defense from Coquitlam, BC, currently plays for the Vancouver Comets (BC U18AAA) and will be a great asset for the blue & gold when she joins the squad.

Riley began her hockey career on the pond playing pond hockey at 3 years old. After that, she began playing for the Coquitlam Minor Hockey Association until the Bantam level when she joined the Greater Vancouver Comets as an underage player. She has played with the Comets for the past 4 years and has made quite an impact on the organization.

"I chose Windsor because it immediately felt like somewhere I wanted to call home", said Riley. "I'm really excited about the opportunity to continue my education, play the sport I love, and be part of a team with such a positive and supportive culture."

When asked about her support system and influences on her game, Riley commented: "I have had an endless amount of support throughout my hockey career. The guidance, encouragement, and confidence from my coaches, teammates, and family has played a significant role in my journey.  Through all of the ups and downs, I have always had a strong support system, which has got me to where I am today."

In her personal life, Riley is an only child who lives with her parents and dog Lulu. She is very passionate about the outdoors and loves skiing, hiking, fishing, hunting, and camping. She also loves traveling and her favourite place that she has been is the Galapagos Islands.

"With one of our largest graduating classes (2025), we have been very diligent in to selecting the right people to come into the program," commented Iwanicka. "Paige is not only a great hockey player, but also a great person! It made the decision easy for both of us, when she came to campus and knew this was home."

We look forward to seeing Paige on the ice next season with the Blue & Gold!
