Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Lancers drop recent road battles

The Windsor Lancer men's hockey team were back in action this weekend on the road up in the GTA.

On Saturday the blue and gold made a stop in Toronto to take on the York Lions first where they dropped a 3-2 decision to the Lions.

Meanwhile on Sunday the Lancers travelled to Oshawa to take on the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks where they were blanked 2-0 while visiting in the Durham region this time around.

WEEKEND STATS
Cayden Faust and Keegan Mullen each scored for the Lancers on Saturday at York.

Faust also picked up an assist on Mullen's goal while Domenic Mufarreh, Alex Cunningham, and Dylan Schives each picked up an assist on the Lancer goals at Canlan Ice Sports this past weekend.

SATURDAY GAME FLOW
The Lions hatched open the goose egg on their side of the scoreboard first at 17:37 in the first period with a goal coming from Harry Clark to make it a 1-0 hockey game for the hosts.

The visiting Lancers would respond at 8:30 in the second period with Faust's goal from Mufarreh and Cunningham's helpers to make it a 1-1 game.

Later in the second period Keeton Oakley scored for York with 9 seconds left in the period to regain the York one-goal lead up on the Lancers heading into the second intermission.

Coming out of the gate in the third, the Lancers were eager to tie up the game and found a way to beat the York netminder Matt Tovell at 5:14 into the final period with Mullen's marker from Faust and Schieves to make it a 2-2 deadlock.

However, seconds later York would not allow the Lancers to get back into the contest when the game winning goal by Hunter Brown was scored for the Lions to allow them to roar back and regain momentum that carried throughout the duration of the hockey game as the Lancers were unable to get anything past Tovell by the time the final buzzer sounded on Saturday night ending the game at 3-2 in favour of York.
SUNDAY GAME FLOW
The first period was scoreless between both teams with neither team able to solve the other's goaltender between the pipes.

The second period saw Ontario Tech score to earn a 1-0 lead for the Ridgebacks up on the Lancers.

The Ridgebacks would score again in the third period doubling their lead and making it a 2-0 game for Ontario Tech.

That score would remain intact throughout the rest of the contest as the Lancers were unable to break the Ridgebacks shutout and find the scoresheet being blanked 2-0 and losing both games on the road this weekend.

With the losses the Lancers men's hockey team fall to 2-5 on the campaign.

UP NEXT
The Lancers will now return home to Windsor to prepare for the Queen's Gaels who will be in town for a visit on Saturday November 2nd at the Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex for a 7:30pm puck drop.
