Women's Basketball earns two wins in Windsor

The Lancer women's basketball team won a pair of home games this weekend at the Toldo Lancer Centre. 
 
On Friday the Lancers defeated the Lakehead Thunderwolves 72-48 win and on Saturday the blue and gold won 82-66.
 
WEEKEND STATS
Leah Tate and Kali Grootenboer each scored 11 points for the blue and gold on Friday. 
 
Mya Iriah scored 16 points leading the Lancers while Grootenboer scored 14 points going 6-7 on field goals and Chiarot had 12 points in the winning outing on Saturday. 
 
FRIDAY GAME FLOW
The Lancers led the Thunderwolves by a doubled-up score of 18-9 by the end of the first quarter. 
 
The second quarter saw Windsor produce their most offense of the game bursting on the scene with another 21 points to add to their total before halftime up 39-21 on the well-travelled Lakehead squad.
 
The third quarter was evenly scored between both sides who traded possessions and scoring opportunities, but the Lancers were still leading 54-36.
 
Windsor would round out the fourth quarter with another 18 points added to their total which sealed the deal with a 72-48 win over Lakehead on home court.
 
SATURDAY GAME FLOW
Windsor came out of the gate on McMaster 19-15 on Saturday in what was the back half of their weekend double header at home. 
 
The Lancers continued to add to their score to lead on the Marauders at halftime 34-26. 
 
The blue and gold went on a scoring tear in the third quarter outscoring the Marauders 30-19 making it a 64-45 score going into the fourth quarter.
 
In the fourth McMaster went on a scoring rampage of their own outscoring the Lancers 21-18 however in the end it was not enough to catch the Lancers lead as Windsor held on to serve the Marauders their first loss of the season with a 82-66 win on home court.
 
UP NEXT
The Lancers will now take to the 401 to travel up to Toronto to take on the Toronto Varsity Blues on Wednesday November 13th for a 6:00pm tipoff from the Goldring Centre.
