Lancers Dominate Varsity Blues on Wednesday Night

The blue & gold started off hot with a 10-0 run in the first few minutes of the game against the Toronto Varsity Blues in a rare Wednesday night contest up the 401. The strong start and great defense led the Lancers to a 75-39 victory.

GAME STATS
This was a full team victory as 10 players recorded points throughout the game. In the first half, the Lancers shot 48.6% from the field and 42.9% from behind the arc.
Leah Tate recorded 17 points to lead the Lancers while Maggie Denys and Kira Atherley each contributed 6 rebounds in the win.

GAME FLOW
A quick 3-pointer from Leah Tate kicked off the scoring in the first quarter and some fantastic defense to force turnovers allowed the Lancers to build a quick lead to end the first frame up 25-9. Isabella Anes contributed 7 points in the opening quarter while Leah Tate racked up 8 points.

The Lancer momentum continued in the second quarter despite the Varsity Blues battling to bring the luck back their way. Every Toronto basket was followed up by a Windsor response to continue growing the Lancer lead. A buzzer-beater 3-pointer from Julia Chiarot brought the blue & gold into halftime up 48-18.

Strong defense from both teams made for a slow third quarter score-wise, as the Lancer lead stayed at 30 points with the score being 56-26 after 30 minutes of play.

The final frame featured the blue & gold showing no mercy as they continued to dominate the University of Toronto squad. More 3-pointers and strategic offensive plays allowed the blue & gold to cruise to a 75-39 victory.
