The Lancer men's basketball team hosted a pair of teams from the northern part of the province on Friday and Saturday evening at the Toldo Lancer Centre.
On Friday the Lancers came away with an 89-81 victory over the Laurentian Voyageurs before winning less than 24 hours later on Saturday 87-73 over the Nipissing Lakers.
WEEKEND STATS
Simeon Smith scored 30 points and went 10 for 10 on free throw attempts in 31 minutes played leading the Lancers to victory over Laurentian.
Yohann Sam had a double-double stat with 19 points and 10 rebounds helping also contribute greatly to the Lancers win in Windsor on Friday. Sam led the charge offensively on Saturday with his 21-point performance.
Emanuel Otong and
Yashar Greaves-Saadat each had 16 points of their own on Saturday in the victory over Nipissing.
FRIDAY GAME FLOW
The first quarter was an even battle as the Voyageurs matched the Lancers 21-point total to end the first quarter all tied up at 21-21.
Laurentian was able to find more offensive flow in the second quarter tallying more points on the scoreboard making it 45-39 at half time.
The Lancers found ways to respond to create more offense for their side in the third quarter outscoring the Voyageurs 25-16 and making the score 64-61 at the end of the quarter.
In the fourth the Lancers found themselves more in control and were able to produce 25 more points and allow themselves to acquire the surge to seize the game from Laurentian with an 89-81 hard fought victory over the visitors from Sudbury.
SATURDAY GAME FLOW
The blue and gold came out of the gate hot and were able to fuel a fiery offense throughout the opening quarter with a 32-18 score on the board.
The second quarter saw the Lancers add more offensive production on the Lakers and with that Windsor was able to hold a 51-34 lead at the half.
Equal scoring output came in the third quarter from both Nipissing and Windsor who matched each other's 17-point production in the quarter and saw a 68-51 score in favour of the hosts on the board.
The Lakers then went on a 22-19 scoring run in the fourth quarter outscoring the Lancers in the quarter but in the end, it was the Lancers who emerged victorious with their dominating first half performance able to stave off the Lakers at the TLC with an 87-73 home win in Windsor. With the win the Lancers now improve to 5-5 on the season.

The Lancers will be back in action again next weekend when they host the Brock Badgers at the TLC for an expected 8:00pm tipoff on Saturday, November 30th. The game will also be livestreamed on OUA.Tv for basketball fans to watch live from outside the venue.
