The Lancer women's volleyball team made the trek up to Peterborough this past weekend to take on the Trent Excalibur on Friday and Saturday at the Trent Athletic Centre.
On Friday the Lancers defeated the Excalibur 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, and 25-23) and followed up on Saturday with a 3-1 win (22-25, 25-20, 28-26, and 25-17).
WEEKEND STATS
Aliah Admans led the way offensively with 15 kills on Friday and another 14 kills on Saturday to help the Lancers earn two important road wins.
Aryn Markett also had a great weekend recording 10 kills on Friday and 11 kills on Saturday helping her team take down Trent.
Up the middle
Jordyn Brearley found ways to contribute offensively with her 15 kills and 3 service aces on the weekend as well including 10 kills which came about in the Saturday rematch win.
Danika Scharff racked up 29 assists on Friday and another 42 assists on Saturday helping to clinch the dub for the blue and gold over the green and white.
FRIDAY GAME FLOW
The Excalibur found themselves in the fight with the Lancers throughout the first set.
Despite Windsor earning the first two points Trent hung around before the Lancers broke open a gap down the stretch and the blue and gold found a way to round out the set with a 25-20 victory and taking a 1-0 lead in the match.
The second set was all Lancers controlling throughout the midway mark of the set with a lead as high of eleven points which resulted in a 25-14 score and 2-0 lead for the visitors.
In the third set, Trent bounced back with more competitive play looking to respond and find a way to prolong the match to a potential additional set.
However, the Lancers did find themselves tested by the hosts who were eager to fight for a fourth set engaged in a tug of war before the Lancers found a way to break the 23-23 at the tail end of the set with two points that propelled them to a 25-23 third set win and 3-0 sweeping victory over Trent on the first night.
SATURDAY FAME FLOW
In the rematch the next day, Trent's resiliency was on full display as they managed to push the Lancers to the limit throughout the set and toward the end of the first set earning a tenacious 25-22 first set revenge win and 1-0 lead in the match.
The deficit awoke the sleeping giant in the Lancers throughout the second set as they were able to come alive and battle back to a 25-20 win and equalize the match at 1-1.
An ultra-competitive third set ensued with both sides persistently trading points and finding equal opportunities to remain productive offensively.
The Lancers found themselves needing to sharpen their joust swords up against the Excalibur swords as in the end they needed extra points to round out the set when it was a 24-24 stalemate. Ultimately the Lancers were ablet to close out with a 28-26 win and take a 2-1 lead.
In the fourth set the Lancers controlled the flow of the game once again and despite being challenged were able to cruise to a 25-17 fourth set win and earn a 3-1 win. With the win the Lancers now improve to a 7-3 record on the campaign heading into the break.

Saturday's contest at Trent was the final game of the 2024 calendar year for the Lancer women's volleyball team who will now focus on their upcoming fall semester exams and head into the holiday midseason break and will return to action again in 2025 when they will visit the McMaster Marauders in Hamilton on Friday January 10th and Saturday January 11th, 2025.
