The Windsor Lancers women's basketball team too to the 401 East this weekend and traveled up to Kingston and Oshawa to take on the Queen's Gaels and Ontario Tech Ridgebacks on Friday and Saturday evening respectively.
The blue and gold defeated the Gaels 64-56 in Kingston on Friday and followed up with an impressive 93-34 win on Saturday in Oshawa over the Ridgebacks.
WEEKEND STATS
On Friday
Isabella Anes went 8-16 on field goals and 3-8 on three-point attempts leading the Lancers offensively with her 19-point performance which helped Windsor edge Queen's.
Julia Chiarot also put-up double-digit numbers with her 10-points scored in the victory on Friday night.
On Saturday
Vanessa Budimunda 7-10 on field goals and led the way in points scored for Windsor with 16 scored. Meanwhile
Kali Grootenboer recorded a double-double stat line with her 14 points and 10 rebounds recorded helping in the whopping victory over Ontario Tech. Every member on the Lancers scored 2 points or more on the floor leaving no one off the stats sheet in the true team win earned of a 59-point margin.
FRIDAY GAME FLOW
The Lancers outscored the Gaels in the first quarter 16-14 leading after one and carried forth that same momentum going into the second quarter adding another 19 points with the Gaels generating 15 points making it a 35-29 Lancer lead at halftime.
Anes had 12 points by halftime leading the Lancers offense with her contributions.
In the second half the Lancers added another 13 points and surrendered 10 to the Gaels to make it 48-39 at the end of the third quarter.
The Gaels outscored the Lancers 17-16 in the fourth quarter, yet the Lancers found a way to protect their basket on defence and ensure Queen's would come back with a late game surge ultimately hanging on for the 64-56 road victory at the ARC on Friday.
SATURDAY GAME FLOW
In a lopsided affair in Oshawa on Saturday, the Ridgebacks found themselves trailing 23-3 to the Lancers by the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter saw more offensive production from the blue and gold who outscored the Ridgebacks 21-9 making it a 44-12 ball game at halftime.
In the third quarter, the Lancers continued to widen the spread with another 27 points added against 7 continuing to silence the Ridgebacks before seeing Ontario Tech generate their most offense in the game.
In the fourth quarter, despite the Lancers outscored the Ridgebacks 22-15 but ultimately the Lancers proved to be too much to handle for Ontario Tech with a 93-34 victory and improving to a 2-2 record on the young season.

The Lancers will be back in action again next weekend for a pair of home games being hosted at the Toldo Lancer Centre on Friday November 8th at 6:00pm against the Lakehead Thunderwolves and again on Saturday November 9th for a 4:00pm tip off against the McMaster Marauders.
