Men's hockey splits weekend

The Lancer men's hockey team hosted the TMU Bold on Saturday evening at the Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex where they dropped a 3-2 decision before hitting the road less than 24 hours later to head up to St. Catharine's to play the Brock Badgers on Sunday afternoon where they emerged victorious with a 2-1 overtime road win result.
 
WEEKEND STATS
On Saturday, Travis Hensrud and Ty Toews were the goal scorers for Windsor while in net Nathan Torchia made 28 saves in the loss to TMU at the CPRC. 
 
While on Sunday Keegan McMullen scored and Matt McNamara netted the game winner in overtime to secure a bounce back win up in the Garden City.
 
Max Donoso made 25 saves as well in the extra period thrilling win to help backstop his team over the hosts in the Niagara Region.
 
SATURDAY GAME FLOW
Jordan D'Intino scored the first goal of the game for TMU to make it 1-0 Bold at 13:58 of the first frame.
 
The Lancers responded with Hensrud's goal at 16:22 to make it a 1-1 game which held true going into the first intermission.  Johnny Ulicny and Logan Linklater drew assists on Hensrud's equalizer for the Lancers.
 
At 16:12 of the second period Connor Bowie got one past Torchia to make it 2-1 TMU to regain the Bold's lead.
 
Toews received a pass from Aaron Shaw via McMullen to find another response goal for the Lancers to round out the second period knotted up at 2-2 after 40 minutes of play.
 
Aleks Dimovski managed to get the go-ahead goal for the Bold to put pressure on the blue and gold earning a 3-2 lead at 6:50 in the third. 
 
The one goal lead stayed in place for TMU throughout the remainder of the game as the Lancers failed to get anyone more goals past Kai Edmonds who was manning the TMU net strong towards the end of the game to help backstop the Bold over the Lancers in Windsor.
 
 
SUNDAY GAME FLOW
After a scoreless first period, McMullen opened the game's scoring at 7:39 of the second period when he got one from David Jesus past Brock's goaltender Samuel Vyletelka to make it 1-0 Windsor up on the hosts.
 
Brock's Zack Stringer scored at 2:46 of the third period to tie the game up at 1-1 which eventually stood in place until the end of regulation to force an extra period for overtime.
 
The game's hero McNamara scored an unassisted game winner in the overtime at the 3:36 mark to help the Lancers split the weekend and earn a hard-fought road victory in OT.
 
UP NEXT
The Lancers will now prepare for their final game of the fall semester happening on Wednesday December 4th against the Western Mustangs for a 7:30pm puck drop at the Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex.
