The Lancer men's hockey team closed out their 2023-24 regular season with two very important victories.

Windsor defeated the Laurier Golden Hawks 4-2 on Friday night and the Waterloo Warriors 3-2 in overtime on Saturday at the Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex.

With the two wins, the Lancers secured fourth place in the OUA west division heading into the post season.

HOW IT HAPPENED FRIDAY
The Hawks jumped out to a one goal lead just 47 seconds into the first period before the Lancers retaliated with three unanswered goals.

Matt McNamara and
Ty Toews scored in the first period to give Windsor a 2-1 lead heading into the intermission. McNamara scored his second of the game at the 2:44 mark of the middle period to put Windsor up 3-1.

Laurier got within one goal late in the second but a goal from
Johnny Ulicny midway through the third secured the win for Windsor.

HOW IT HAPPENED SATURDAY
Ulicny scored his second goal of the weekend for the blue and gold on Saturday night to put Windsor up 1-0, before the visiting Warriors tied it up with mere seconds to go in the opening frame.

Holden Wale scored the lone goal in the second to put Windsor up again. The Lancers held on to the lead until the 13 minute mark of third period when the Warriors tied it up and send it into overtime.

It took the blue and gold only 39 seconds into the extra time to secure the win with a goal from
David Jesus.
