Box Score The Windsor Lancer men's hockey team hit the road to Thunder Bay for the opening round of the OUA playoffs against Lakehead Thunderwolves. After a seesaw of an outing, with goals scored and leads taken by both teams, the blue and gold earned an overtime victory.

Johnny Ulicny and Nic Pavia both scored in regulation for Windsor, while Jake Durham scored in overtime.
 
Lancer goaltender Nathan Torchia stood tall between the pipes, making 56 saves.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lakehead kicked off the scoring on their home ice this playoff series with 5:43 left in the first period. With no delay, Ulicny found some space with a bouncing puck to even things up.
 
While teams battled to break the 1-1 tie in the second, they ended without any more tallies and only a pair of minor penalties on each side.
 
In the third period, Pavia returned to the ice on a mission for the blue and gold, potting one only after 32 seconds of play. Pavia put the Lancers in the lead for the first time in the game. The team then buckled down to keep their lead and maintain a strong defensive presence. However, with only 1:08 left on the board, the Thunderwolves capitalized on a rebound in a scramble to send the game into overtime.
 
After nearly 8 minutes of overtime play, Jake Durham picked up the winner for the blue and gold, securing Game 1 of this OUA playoff series.
 
UP NEXT
The men return to Windsor for Game two of the best-of-three series against the Thunderwolves. Puck drop is scheduled for this Friday at 7:30pm.
