The Lancer women's basketball team dropped their final two road games of the regular season this weekend in Waterloo.

The blue and gold fell 65-62 to the Laurier Golden Hawks before dropping a 51-42 decision to the Waterloo Warriors Saturday.

Maggie Denys led the Lancers with 20 points, while
Reine Ndome had a team high nine rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED FRIDAY
The first quarter started with a quick-paced attack by the Lancers, but a quicker turnaround from the Golden Hawks saw the blue and gold lead by just two, 18-16, after ten minutes of play. Windsor shot 35% in the second quarter and trailed 33-29 at the half.

The Lancers continued to struggle in the third shooting just 26.3% in the frame. The fourth quarter saw a mix of Golden Hawks and Lancer control, as it was also the most aggressive quarter of the game. Windsor went on a 12-4 run at the end to make it a nailbiter, but it wasn't enough as they fell by three, 65-62.

SATURDAY STATS
Rookie
Leah Tate came off the bench to lead the Lancers with a season high 12 points. For the second straight game, Ndome led the Lancers defensively with six rebounds, while being outrebounded 45-29 overall.

The blue and gold shot just 25.8% from the field, and 66.7% from the free throw line in the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED SATURDAY
After a close first quarter that saw the two squads tied at 13, the blue and gold were held to just four points in the second, and nine points in the third.

Windsor finally rebounded in the final frame, squeaking by the hosts 16-15, but it wasn't enough as the Lancers dropped their second game in a row.

The Lancers will return home for their final regular season home games next week when they host the Algoma Thunderbirds at the Toldo Lancer Centre. Tip-off is set for 6:00pm on Friday, February 16th, and 4:00pm on Saturday, February 17th.
