Windsor dominates visiting Algoma

The Lancer women's basketball team dominated the court at home in a double-header weekend against the Algoma Thunderbirds Friday (78-54) and Saturday (72-29).
 
FRIDAY STATS
Reine Ndome earned an impressive 18 points on the night. Leah Tate and Julia Chiarot also had a great offensive presence, earning 12 and 11 points respectively. Isabella Anes earned four assists.
 
In all, the Lancers shot 68.0% from the charity line and 44.4% from the floor.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED FRIDAY
The Lancers kicked off the weekend with some fire under their feet, outworking the Thunderbirds 23-14 in the opening quarter. Then, the blue and gold kept up the momentum in the second. Ndome led the way with 12 points, putting Windsor ahead by 14 points at halftime.
 
The third quarter was an even affair, teams each gathering 18 points. Looking to the final frame to make it or break it, the Lancers kept their foot on the gas, scoring 18 over 8 and capping the night with a final score of 78-54.
 
SATURDAY STATS
12 players logged time on the court, where Kali Grootenboer led the way with 13 points and 9 rebounds.
 
Maggie Denys earned 7 rebounds and 8 points on the night. Leah Tate also had a strong all-around presence, tallying 3 steals, 6 rebounds, and 9 points.
 
The women shot 50% from the free throw line and 37.5% from the floor.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED SATURDAY
The Lancers, never trailing, held onto the reigns Saturday afternoon on Senior's Day. The women set the tone early, earning 18 points in the opening quarter. Ndome then had a solid second quarter, earning 9 points for the blue and gold to advance the offensive effort.
 
The Lancers matched their first-half effort in the remainder of the game, banking another 20 and 14 points in the final quarters. The seniors held down the fort in the final minutes, capping off the regular season together on the court for the blue and gold.
