Men's Hockey falls to Lakehead

The Lancer men's hockey team travelled up to Thunder Bay for a double-header against the Lakehead Thunderwolves this weekend (6-2; 6-3).
 
FRIDAY STATS
Nic Pavia and Ty Toews each scored to earn their 4th goals of the season. Assists were made by Dylan Schives and Grant Spence in the first period, and Nic Pavia and Will Ennis in the third period.
 
Dakota Lund-Cornish gathered 33 saves on the night.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED FRIDAY
Nic Pavia got things going for the Lancers Friday night, scoring halfway into the opening frame with assists from Dylan Schives and Grant Spence.
 
The second period saw four tallies marked on Lakehead's side, leaving the Lancers eager to bounce back in the final frame.
 
In the third period, Ty Toews sprang into action to add a marker for the blue and gold, assisted by Nic Pavia and Will Ennis. Despite a valiant effort, the men came up short but would gear up for a rematch in Thunder Bay Saturday night.
 
SATURDAY STATS
Mason Kohn and Aaron Shaw each scored their 9th goals of the season. Holden Wale earned the 2nd marker on the night, his 7th this season.
 
Goal assists were made by Brady Hinz, Matt McNamara, Mason Kohn, and Jake Durham.
Dakota Lund-Cornish earned 30 saves between the pipes.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED SATURDAY
The Lancers returned to the ice against Lakehead Saturday night. Mason Kohn kicked off the campaign with a goal, assisted by Brady Hinz and Matt McNamara. Then, fans were kept on the edge of their seats as the Thunderwolves answered back with less than one minute remaining to even the score.
 
The Thunderwolves took the lead in the second with two consecutive goals. The blue and gold regained momentum in the final minutes of the period, where Holden Wale found the back of the net to again make it a one-goal game before the intermission. 
 
To open the third period, Lakehead came onto the ice strong, scoring back-to-back goals. Windsor responded quickly with a tally from Aaron Shaw, assisted by Matt McNamara and Jake Durham. While the men tried to shift the tide in the final frame, the Thunderwolves would seal the deal with a 6th marker on the night to make the final score 6-3.
 
UP NEXT
The Lancers return to Windsor next weekend. On Friday, the men face off against the Laurier Golden Hawks at 7:30pm. Then, on Saturday, the blue and gold play against the Waterloo Warriors at 7:30pm.
