The Windsor Lancer men's hockey team began the second half of the 2024-2025 season with a decisive 4-2 road win against the Concordia Stingers.  

STATS 

Matt McNamara and Ty Toews each potted 1 goal in the first period.  

Travis Hensrud added a tally in the second period. 

Logan Linklater scored an empty-net goal in the third period.  

Keegan McMullen and McNamara each recorded 2 assists on the night.  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

Matt McNamara invaded the Stingers' hive with a goal from the point 9 minutes into the 1st period. Less than 2 minutes later, Ty Toews capitalized on a rebound to double the lead, giving the Lancers a 2-0 advantage.  

The second period saw chances traded as tensions simmered on both benches. Concordia built momentum when they killed a 5-on-3 Lancer power play, but Windsor stung back late in the frame. With 1:51 remaining, Travis Hensrud caught the Stingers by surprise with a sharp one-timer off a bouncer from the boards at the goal line, extending the Lancer lead to 3-0.  

Concordia edged their way back into the game by responding to the Lancer triad with a pair of points in the third. Their first came on the power play, while the second resulted from a scramble in front of the Lancer net. With the score at 3-2, Concordia pulled their goalie to press for an equalizer. However, Logan Linklater launched a clearing attempt from the Lancer zone that found the back of the empty net, locking in a 4-2 Lancer victory.  

UP NEXT 

The men remain on the road next weekend where they will travel to the nation's capital. On Friday, January 17, the Lancers face off against the Carleton Ravens at 7:00 pm. Then, on Saturday, the Lancers will travel to the other end of the Rideau Canal to battle against the Ottawa Gee-Gees at 3:00 pm.
