The University of Windsor Lancers men's hockey team earned their third win of the season with a 2-1 overtime victory against the Guelph Gryphons on Saturday, October 19 in Guelph, Ont.

Dylan Schives netted the OT winner for the Lancers, as his second goal of the season gave Windsor their third win of the season. Logan Linklater picked up the other Lancer goal in the second period. Owen Jones had two assists, and Matt McNamara had one. Max Donoso made 18 saves in the win. Cal Schell made 30 saves for the Gryphons, and Jack Wismer had the lone goal.

GAME FLOW
Coming off of a 6-3 loss at Bowling Green on Friday night, the Lancers made the trip to Guelph in their lone OUA match of the weekend. The game saw even, back-and-forth play in a scoreless first period, with each team registering six shots on net.

The second period saw more of the same, with each team putting rubber on net nine times. Logan Linklater broke the deadlock with five minutes to play in the period by cashing in on a rebound off of a Matt McNamara point shot for his first goal of the season.

The Lancers began to take control of the game in the third period, outshooting Guelph 14-2 in an effort to hold on to their 1-0 lead. Guelph managed to tie the game at the midway point of the final frame on a goal by Jack Wismer. The score would hold at 1-1 as the buzzer sounded, sending the game to overtime.

Overtime saw chances both ways, including Windsor successfully killing off a penalty. Schives came through for the Lancers moments after the teams went back to full strength, joining the rush as the third skater in a three-on-two, taking a drop pass from Owen Jones, and firing a shot past Schell to win the game.
