Four Lancers to be inducted into Alumni Sports Hall of Fame

Windsor, ON - The University of Windsor Alumni Association and the Department of Athletics are pleased to announce the 2025 induction class for the University of Windsor's Alumni Sports Hall of Fame. The ceremony will take place on Sunday, November 16, 2025, inside the Alumni Auditorium in the CAW student centre.

Lancer athlete inductees for this year's class include Corey Bellemore (track & field), Brian Jones (football and track and field), Parker Van Buskirk (hockey) and Gisele Poulin (track and field).

In addition, the 1985 OUA West conference champion Lancer men's soccer team will also be recognized with the Alumni Sports Hall of Fame's Team Achievement award.

INDUCTEES:

Corey Bellemore (BA '17) was a Lancer track and field and cross-country student-athlete who is considered one of the very best to ever wear the blue and gold. He earned 15 USPORTS individual medals and seven U SPORTS team medals throughout his illustrious university career and he was a multi-time U SPORTS all-Canadian and OUA all-star. Corey was twice honoured with the Olympic Shield as the University of Windsor's male athlete of the year and he represented Canada at multiple international events, including the 2017 FISU World University Games.

Brian Jones (BA '07, MBA '10) was a two-sport standout athlete at the University of Windsor, as a member of both the Lancer football and track and field teams. In football, he was a five-year starter on the offensive line, a three-time team captain and he earned OUA all-star status in both 2005 and 2006. On the track, he was a U SPORTS gold medalist and three-time OUA all-star in shot put. Also, a track and field team captain, he helped lead the Lancers to three U SPORTS national championship track and field titles from 2003-05.

A goaltender with the Lancer hockey team from 2011-15 and a recipient of the Olympic Shield as UWindsor's male athlete of the year, Parker Van Buskirk (BComm '15, MBA '18) is the winningest goaltender in Lancer men's hockey history with 85 career victories. During his time with the Lancers, he was a two-time OUA all-star, and he was the OUA goaltender of the year as well as a finalist for the U SPORTS national goaltender of the year in 2015. He led his team to the Queen's Cup Ontario championship in 2014 for only the second time in school history as well as to two consecutive U SPORTS national championship tournament appearances.

Gisele Poulin (BHK '95) was a decorated women's track and field athlete and a CIAU gold medalist in the long jump in 1992. Incredibly, she was a member of four CIAU national championship teams throughout her career and was also a three-time OWIAA gold medalist. Gisele still ranked #3 all-time in Lancer history in long jump and as a member of the 4x200m relay team as well as #5 all-time in the 60 metres.

In only their third season ever in the OUAA as a varsity team, the 1985 Lancer men's soccer team finished conference play with an impressive 10-0-2 record to capture the OUAA west division championship. The team, led by OUAA West coach of the year John Vacratsis, finished the regular season undefeated and were ranked #1 in Canada for the only time in program history.
