The University of Windsor Lancers women's volleyball team won both games in Thunder Bay, Ont. as they took on the Lakehead Thunderwolves in a back-to-back series. On Friday (Oct. 31) the Lancers won the match in straight sets, and got it done in four sets on Saturday (Nov. 1).
FRIDAY
Aliah Admans led the Lancer offense on Friday, picking up 17 kills and four digs for 19 points. Windsor cruised to the sweep with set scores of 25-15, 25-15, and 25-12.
Aryn Markett followed with seven digs and eight kills. Setter
Danika Scharff tallied 35 assists and had five block assists.
Alysha Goundrey's 16 kills and 16.5 points were the most by any Thunderwolf.
SATURDAY
The second game of the weekend saw the Lancers drop the first set 17-25, but bounced back with three straight set wins of 25-21, 25-22, and 25-17. Admans had another big game, this time registering 21 kills, nine digs, and four block assists for 24 points.
Jordyn Brearley had 15 kills and 18 points, and
Raiya Millin earned seven. Brearley and
Hope Simpson each had four block assists.
Elle O'Connell and
Kaitlyn Pepper each had 11 digs.
Goundrey had another big game for Lakehead with 12 kills and seven digs. Lola Milohnic tallied 11 kills.
UP NEXT
The Lancers have next weekend off. They host the TMU Bold at the Toldo Lancer Centre the following weekend. The first game of this back-to-back will be held on Friday, November 14 at 6 p.m. Tickets can be bought at
