GAME FLOW
The Lancers snapped the Gryphons five-game win streak, scoring twice on Guelph, who allowed just three goals across those five previous wins. This marks just the second game this season that Gryphons goaltender Sophie Helfenstein has allowed multiple goals.
Windsor opened the scoring on a goal by Teagan Paré late in the first period, as the second-year defender extended her goal streak to three games and point streak to four on a spectacular end-to-end solo rush, slipping a shot by Helfenstein.
Guelph turned up the pressure as the game progressed, but Lancers goaltender
Ella Willoughby stood tall and stopped 12 shots in the second period and 13 in the third.
The Lancers had a power play to start overtime, and made the most of their opportunity to win. After almost two minutes of offensive zone pressure to start the extra frame,
Lerissa Stevenson picked up a loose puck and fired a low wrist shot from below the left faceoff dot to beat Helfenstein and play the hero for a dramatic first career OUA goal.
