The University of Windsor Lancers men's hockey team lost 4-3 in overtime to the Waterloo Warriors on Friday, November 28 night at Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex in Windsor, Ont.
STATS
Logan Linklater and
Colton Smith each recorded a goal and an assist for the Lancers.
Max Donoso made 21 saves in nearly 67 minutes of play.
Evan Klein had a two-point night and Dan Murphy stopped 26 shots for the Warriors.
GAME FLOW
Waterloo started off the game with an early 2-0 on goals by Aaron Davidson and Klein within the first ten minutes of the game. The Lancers responded with a Linklater power play goal, as the second-year forward popped the bottle on a one-timer, finishing off a crisp cross-ice feed from
Owen Jones.
Windsor tied the game up on
Colton Smith's ninth goal of the season just two minutes into the second period. Simon Rose restored the Warriors lead midway through the frame with a power play goal of his own.
The Warriors appeared to be closing out this game with a 3-2 win, but a late press from the Lancers with the goalie pulled resulted in
Keegan McMullen roofing a shot past Murphy with just ten seconds left to tie the game, sending Lancer fans into a frenzy.
Overtime was a back-and-forth affair that saw both teams trade scoring chances, and a breakaway goal by Cole Fraser with just eleven seconds remaining in OT gave the Warriors the win.
