The Windsor Lancers men's hockey team dropped the opening game of their quarter-final series against the Toronto Varsity Blues 5-2 Thursday night, at the Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Varsity Blues jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead only 2:42 into the first period with the goal being scored by Mason Reaves and assisted by Eddie Yan and Ethan MacFarland. Trading penalties and opportunities, the opening frame ended with the score still 1-0.

The blue & gold came out in the second with something to prove as they scored only 39 seconds into the period. The goal scorer was Travis Hensrud with Logan Linklater and Johnny Ulicny getting the assists. A mere few minutes later, the Lancers added another tally on a goal from Matt McNamara and assisted by Keegan McMullen and Brady Hinz to go up 2-1 heading into second intermission.

Toronto responded with a vengeance in the third period with 4 unanswered goals, including an empty netter, to seal the deal and take Game 1 by a score of 5-2.
