The Lancer football team opened the 2025 season with a tough 30-9 loss to the No. 2 Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday night in Waterloo.

With the loss, the Lancers are 0-1 on the season as they come home for their second regular season game next week at Alumni Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
On the opening drive of the game, the Lancers powered down the field and got the ball to the five-yard line.
Brady Lidster kicked his first of three straight field goals to put the Lancers up 3-0. On the very next drive, the hosts capitalized on every opportunity and crossed into the endzone with a one yard run to take a 7-3 lead.

In the second, Laurier opened the quarter with another TD while the Lancers found themselves on the wrong side of multiple penalty calls. After Windsor conceded a safety, Lidster kicked a nice 20-yard field goal to put the Lancers within ten at 16-6.

A tremendous throw from Kareem Cotton to
Colby Ginn got the Lancers down the field, and Lidster stayed perfect, putting the Lancers within a score with a 29-yard field goal, 16-9.

After a missed interception by the Lancers near the end of the half, the Hawks secured their lead heading into the break with their third TD of the game. The blue and gold trailed 23-9 heading into the break.

In the second half, the Lancer defense settled in and held the Golden Hawks to just one touchdown but were also unable to find the endzone.
