Windsor-Essex volleyball fans will get to see some outstanding university volleyball starting next week as the Lancer men's volleyball team is set to host several U SPORTS Top 10 ranked opponents from across the country as part of their home exhibition schedule.
The Lancers will open their exhibition season by welcoming Trinity Western University to the Toldo Lancer Centre for the first time ever for a pair of pre-season exhibition matches. The Lancers will host TWU on Thursday, September 25 and Friday, September 26 with first serve set for 8pm on both nights.
Trinity Western ended their 2024-25 campaign as the #8 ranked team in the country. The only previous match-up between Windsor and TWU took place at the 2018 U SPORTS men's volleyball national championship, where the top ranked Spartans knocked off the eight seeded Lancers 3-1 in the national quarterfinals.
The Lancers finished the 2024-25 season as the #4 ranked team in the country following a tremendous 18-2 conference season. Coach
James Gravelle's squad earned a berth to the 2025 U SPORTS Men's Volleyball championship on the strength of their OUA silver medal finish.
Following the two-match series with Trinity Western, the Lancers will then host a four-team pre-season tournament from October 3-5 also at the Toldo Lancer Centre featuring the Alberta Golden Bears, Saskatchewan Huskies and Toronto Varsity Blues. Alberta finished the 2024-25 season as the top ranked men's volleyball team in the country, followed by the Saskatchewan Huskies at #6 and the University of Toronto at #9 in the rankings.
Tickets to these pre-season matches are $10 for adults and $5 for youth.
Be sure to join us as the Lancers host some of the top programs in the country as we build towards the 2026 U SPORTS Men's Volleyball National Championship which will take place at the University of Windsor's Toldo Lancer Centre from March 13-15.
