Lancers drop hard-fought game No. 7 Bold

The University of Windsor Lancers men's basketball team fell 93–69 to the No. 7 nationally ranked TMU Bold on Friday (Jan. 23) night at the Toldo Lancer Centre.

GAME FLOW
Windsor opened the game with energy, taking a 13–8 lead after the first quarter, but TMU seized control in the second frame and never looked back.

After a low-scoring opening quarter, the Bold erupted for 25 points in the second to take a 33–30 halftime advantage. TMU continued to build momentum after the break, outscoring the Lancers 38–22 in the third quarter to create separation. Windsor was unable to recover in the final ten minutes as the visitors maintained their pace and closed out the contest with a strong fourth quarter.

Shooting efficiency and perimeter scoring proved to be the difference in the game. TMU shot 47.2% from the field and knocked down 14 three-pointers at a 38.9% clip, while Windsor finished at 44.0% shooting and 32.0% from beyond the arc. The Bold also won the rebounding battle 37–26 and forced 18 Windsor turnovers, converting them into transition opportunities throughout the night.

STATS
Luke Grace led the Lancers offensively with 13 points and five rebounds, while Emanuel Otong added 12 points on 5-of-12 shooting. Yohann Sam provided a spark off the bench with 14 points, including 7-of-8 shooting from the free-throw line. Andrew Cook chipped in six rebounds to pace Windsor on the glass.

For TMU, Aaron Rhooms led all scorers with 28 points, shooting 6-of-10 from three-point range. Deandre Goulbourne followed closely with 23 points and seven rebounds, while Kevin Toth contributed 11 points and a team-high seven assists to anchor the Bold offense.
