No. 10 Lancers battle to buzzer with No. 5 Bold

The University of Windsor Lancers women's basketball team dropped an 82–72 decision to the TMU Bold on Friday, January 23 at the Toldo Lancer Centre, as the visitors pulled away late after a tightly contested first half. Windsor showed strong stretches on both ends of the floor, but TMU's efficiency and execution down the stretch proved to be the difference. 

GAME FLOW
Windsor came out with energy, taking an 18–14 lead after the opening quarter and setting the tone defensively. TMU responded in the second frame, outscoring the Lancers 26–16 to take a 40–34 advantage into halftime. The teams traded momentum in the third quarter, with Windsor edging the Bold 21–17 to keep the game within reach, but TMU closed the contest with a 25-point fourth quarter to secure the road win. 

Shooting efficiency and ball pressure defined the game. TMU shot 43.9% from the field and 53.8% from beyond the arc, while Windsor finished at 45.3% overall and 46.7% from three-point range. Both teams pulled down 38 rebounds apiece, but the Bold forced 18 Windsor turnovers and capitalized at the free-throw line, going 17-of-29 compared to Windsor's 17-of-22.

STATS
Kali Grootenboer led the Lancers with her 12th consecutive double-double in OUA play, posting 18 points and 13 rebounds while adding three assists. Julia Chiarot followed with 16 points on 6-of-13 shooting, and Leah Tate knocked down four three-pointers on her way to 15 points. Jade Hunte provided valuable minutes off the bench, contributing 10 points on efficient shooting. 

For TMU, Myriam Kone led all scorers with 20 points, while Catrina Garvey added 17 points, including four triples. Eternati Willock made an impact off the bench with 13 points and seven rebounds as the Bold maintained control late. 

UP NEXT
With the loss, Windsor moves to 12–4 in OUA play, while TMU improves to 14-1. The Lancers will look to bounce back as they continue conference play in their next matchup against the Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday, January 24.
