Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Men's hockey earns first win of 2026

The University of Windsor Lancers men's hockey team kicked off the new year with a 4-1 win over the visiting Brock Badgers on Saturday, January 3 at the Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex.

GAME FLOW
Tonight's game had the intensity through the roof from the opening puck drop, with both teams playing a physical and instigating style. The Lancers opened the scoring on Keegan McMullen's OUA-leading 13th goal of the season just over halfway through the period.

Colton Smith doubled the Lancer lead in the second period, finding the back of the net after a beautiful cross-ice pass from Noah Szabo.

Windsor added another as Aaron Shaw came rushing down the wing midway through the third period and rifled a shot past the Badgers goaltender. Brock responded moments after, but the Lancers held on to their lead with help from Max Donoso's 22 saves in the frame. Logan Linklater scored an empty-net goal to restore the three-goal Lancer lead and seal the game.

STATS
Keegan McMullen and Aaron Shaw each had a goal and an assist for the Lancers. Linklater and Smith provided two more goals, and Szabo, Matt McNamara, Ty Toews, and Owen Jones each had one assist. Max Donoso stopped 41 of 42 shots in the game.

Rylan Thiessen scored Brock's lone goal and Will Hambley made 29 saves in net.
