The University of Windsor Lancers men's volleyball is set to play in the U SPORTS semifinals for the first time in program history on Saturday (Mar. 14) night at 8 p.m. at the Toldo Lancer Centre.

After completing a thrilling reverse-sweep on Friday night against the Montreal Carabins, the Lancers turn their attention to the Trinity Western Spartans, the top-seeded team in the tournament and No. 2 nationally ranked team.

Windsor took down Montreal for their first-ever national quarterfinal win with set scores of 23-25, 23-25, 25-22, 25-21, 15-10, led by 15 kills from Gustavo Siqueira and 14 by U SPORTS first team All-Canadian Darian Koskie, who had many key swings in the fourth and fifth sets to give the Lancers momentum and the eventual win. Anthony Ivanovski and Chase Bridges had ten kills each to provide valuable depth hitting for the blue and gold, and they were set up by Markus Law-Heese's 45 assists.

Canada West champion Trinity Western made it to the semifinals with a dominating straight sets sweep over the Western Mustangs, 25-14, 25-15, 25-13. First team All-Canadian Kaden Schmidt led the Spartans with 12 kills, and Piers de Greeff had 11. Anselm Reim, who ranked 3^rd in U SPORTS for assists per set with 10.10 in the regular season, had 31 helpers in the three-set victory and two service aces, including the game-winning point. The Spartans went 17-3 in the Canada West regular season to claim second place and beat Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Manitoba to win Canada West gold.
